Great news! Mortgages are being approved, despite the fact that the Internal Revenue Service is no longer providing borrowers’ tax information to lenders. FNMA and GNMA (Fanny and Ginny to those “in the biz”) are waiving the income verifcation piece while the gov’t. is shutdown. NO you CANNOT say you make a million $$ ~ you still have to submit 2 years tax returns, as is always required when applying for a mortgage, and the income will be verified once the IRS is back up and running. That problem last week threatened to stall applications for conventional mortgages.
